**************************************** Planning and Deliberation with PlanSys2 **************************************** *14:00 - 15:30* -- Francisco Javier Rodriguez Lera **Session description:** This practical session introduces PlanSys2, a ROS 2 framework for automated planning and execution. After an overview of its architecture — Domain Expert, Problem Expert, Planner, Executor, and Action Performers — students first validate and run a |PDDL| problem with the POPF command-line planner to understand the planning process independently of any middleware. They then load the same model into PlanSys2, inspect its components, generate the plan through ROS 2 services, and execute it in simulation using provided Action Performers. The session concludes with a discussion of debugging techniques and integration with navigation frameworks. .. |PDDL| replace:: :abbr:`PDDL (Planning Domain Definition Language)` **Session materials:** - :GitHub:`fjrodl/PDDL-course/tree/2026_dev` **Bio Francisco J. Rodríguez** received his Ph.D. degree in intelligent systems for engineering in 2015 from the School of Industrial Engineering and Information Technology at University of León (Spain). Currently, he is working as a researcher in the University of León (Spain) after to stay two years as a research associate in the AI Robolab, which belongs to the Computer Science and Communications Research Unit (CSC) at University of Luxembourg. His work and research interest lie on five different topics associated with AI and Robotics: - cybersecurity in Autonomous Systems, in particular in Social Robots for Public Spaces - cognitive architectures motivational-oriented for robot control generating natural behaviors in autonomous robots - software development and DevOps for delivering solutions in research and business scenarios - application of AI and robots solutions for home-like environments and public spaces - artificial neural networks systems applied to context-awareness in human-robot interaction environments.
